Cajun fried shrimp

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges for serving

  1. In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Dredge the shrimp in the flour mixture, then dip them into the beaten eggs, and then dredge them in the flour mixture again, making sure they are evenly coated.
  5. Carefully place the coated shrimp into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Once the shrimp are cooked, remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve the Cajun fried shrimp hot with lemon wedges for squeezing over the top.
