Baked Legs with Creamy Mushroom Sauce



For the chicken legs:

  • 6 chicken legs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

For the creamy mushroom sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)


Preparing the chicken legs:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with olive oil or non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Pat the chicken legs dry with paper towels and season them generously with salt and pepper.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, minced garlic, paprika, dried thyme, dried rosemary, and dried oregano.
  4. Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken legs until they are evenly coated.
  5. Place the seasoned chicken legs in the prepared baking dish.

Baking the chicken legs:

  1. Bake the chicken legs in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until they are cooked through and golden brown. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).

Making the creamy mushroom sauce:

  1. While the chicken legs are baking, prepare the creamy mushroom sauce.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir well to combine, cooking for another minute to cook off the raw flour taste.
  6. Gradually pour in the chicken broth while stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  7. Add the heavy cream to the skillet and continue stirring until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  8. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.


  1. Once the chicken legs are baked and the sauce is ready, spoon the creamy mushroom sauce over the chicken legs.
  2. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
