Hamburger Potato Casserole

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.75 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: sliced green onions, chopped parsley, crispy bacon bits

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess grease.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked ground beef mixture, sliced potatoes, condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  5. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
  6. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Once done, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
  8. Optionally, garnish with sliced green onions, chopped parsley, or crispy bacon bits before serving.
